On a desk that moves, a tower on the floor is a tethering problem.

On a fixed desk, a PC on the floor is merely untidy. On a sit-stand desk it is something else: every cable running to that machine has to absorb around 25 in of vertical travel, several times a day, for years. Eventually one of them does not — usually the one you would least like to replace.

Mounting the machine under the desktop solves it completely. The tower travels with the desk, the cable slack between them never changes, and there is nothing to snag on the way up.

Most under-desk holders quietly assume a mid-range case. A full tower with a tempered glass side panel, a 360 mm radiator and a stack of drives is a different proposition, and this one is rated for it at 66 lb. A locking rotary knob sets the width and holds it, rather than relying on spring tension that gradually gives way under a heavy case.

The cradle swivels a full 360 degrees, so the rear ports rotate to face you instead of the wall — which turns re-cabling from a contortion into a thirty-second job. Off the floor, the machine also draws far less dust into its intakes.
